1. See the light at Felix Gonzalez-Torres
RAM presents over 40 selected works by international artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres from 30 institutions and collections across the world. His minimal aesthetics and use of everyday objects solicits the audience to piece the work together themselves, inviting a plurality of pictures to emerge. Not to be missed.

2. Party at the release of Genome6.66MBP's debut compilation
Sonic crew Genome6.66MBP have been building up hype over the past few months with some great parties, and now they release their debut compilation of experimental electronica at their spiritual home The Shelter. They have sky-high ambitions and are looking to inspire their peers into being just as creative as they are - head down to support some Shanghai-based talent.

3. Savour every bite at Savour Festival 2016
A stellar line-up of chefs hit Hongqiao for the second annual Savour Festival this month. 'Demon Chef' Alvin Leung of Bo Innovation will be returning for 2016's edition, along with five other big name chefs including Kirk Westaway of Michelin-starred Singapore eatery Jaan and Anthony Demetre of London restaurants Wild Honey and now-defunct Arbutus.

4. See masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou
This exceptional touring exhibition will showcase a panorama of art in France from 1906 to 1977, with one work per year and per artist, including world-famous masters such as Picasso and Matisse, through to lesser-known names. 5. Catch the NBA Global Games
Catch the tenth edition of the NBA Global Games China where local crowd-favourite Yao Ming's former team Houston Rockets take on the New Orleans Pelicans, who will be visiting China for the very first time. Be prepared to be wowed by James Harden's ball-handling skills and Anthony Davis' dynamism at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

6. Hit up the Shanghai Masters
The world's top tennis players, including Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka, will turn out for this huge event in the ATP calendar. Last year's champion Novak Djokovic will be looking to retain his trophy after a loss in the US Open last month. In addition to the star-studded line-up on centre court, the big names will be scheduled to interact with fans at the Union Pay Pavilion court, where you can get up close with the players.

7. Shanghai French Week 2016
The 15th Shanghai French Week is dedicated to - yep you've guessed it - all things French. Held along Yandang Lu Pedestrian Street, you can feast on authentic French foods, including baguettes, pastries, cheese, and wine. Or if you're into aesthetics, the street will showcase French fashion, design and handicraft. Best of all, it's all free to attend.

8. Witness the extraordinary at Wuzhen International Theatre Festival

9. See grime star AJ Tracey
One of the most talked about MCs to emerge from the UK's grime scene in the past 12 months, AJ Tracey comes to The Shelter alongside DJ General Courts on the back of four 2016 singles, and a whole lot of media frenzy to go with them. Expect him to live up to the hype.

10. See slacker rock god Kurt Vile
Part of folk-rock outfit The War on Drugs, Kurt Vile has always seemed more comfortable taking his own psych-folk path. Catch him as he brings his hazy, bluesy and all-round oustanding psych-folk to Shanghai.

11. Get jazzy at JZ Festival
JZ Festival returns to the Expo Garden Park for two days of live music. British RnB singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae is headlining both days, with Grammy Award-winning trumpeter and flügelhornist Randy Becker amongst others on the bill.

13. Second time lucky for MOMA Festival 2016
Deja vu? Yes, MOMA Fest was originally meant to take place last month but was called off due to the impending typhoon Meranti. Thankfully they've rescheduled for the end of this month - for the uninitiated, Britpop act Suede are headlining the folk and rock-focused festival. 14. Party all night at Corona Sunsets Festival
Even though the all-encompassing STORM Festival has blown through town, there's still a little bit more from the festival in the form of this spin-off Corona Sunsets Festival. Sam Feldt, Sigala, The Him and Jose Padilla are on the bill thus far - it ought to be a fun beach-themed festival by the river.

15. Take in TEDxShanghaiWomen
The only TEDx event in mainland China dedicated to women, TEDxShanghaiWomen offers a platform where people can connect and inspire those seeking a common sense of community. Join over 700 attendees in witnessing a series of speeches that promise to 'educate, inspire, persuade, entertain and truly embrace ideas worth sharing'.

16. Say hello to INTRO Festival
The Beijing-born electronic music festival makes its Shanghai debut with headliners including Germany's DJ Koze and Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson, plus a strong roster of local talent. The bill includes Bicep, Lawrence, Markus Nasty + MC Dizzle K, Hodge, Desto, plus SVBKVLT crew members Osheyack, Swimful, Kilo Vee and Howell.
